While staying with us, enjoy the beauty of Illinois in the bluffs along the Mississippi and Illinois rivers (be sure to watch for the bald eagles on the way).  Take in the lush, green hills of Calhoun county, ancient Indian artifacts, an ongoing archeological dig at the Center for American Archeology in Kampsville, and the beautiful rolling farmland of Greene and Jersey Counties. Spend the day antiquing in neighboring Alton with its many shops and historical homes, or experience the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, 45 minutes away.

You can enjoy a variety of seasonal activities including walking, jogging, bike riding, cross country skiing, sun bathing, and just relaxing! Our 20' by 40' swimming pool (closed during winter) will await you for a refreshing dip after a day of golfing, hiking, or shopping in local shops and surrounding communities. In Jerseyville, there are private and public golf courses, tennis courts, bowling alleys, billiards, fishing, and shopping.  Sit and sip a lemonade on the expansive pillared front porch and absorb the quiet, clean countryside.

The captivating Jersey County lies northeast of where the great Mississippi and Illinois rivers meet. The former home of the Kickapoo, Menomini, Potawatomi, and Illini Indians was first discovered by the Europeans, Father Marquette and Louis Joliet in 1673.  Jersey County was named after the state from which the early settlers migrated - New Jersey.

Numerous fascinating historical sites and archeological gems are located within Jersey County. While in Jersey County, you can enjoy the rich culture and history of its quaint country towns. Jerseyville offers a multitude of historical sites. The courthouse, in all its Gothic splendor, is on the National Register of Historic Places, along with the courthouse square.
